Pancakes for breakfast
January 9, 2007
So I made some pancakes for breakfast today, it was honestly my first attempt at making pancakes from scratch. I think I did alright consider my dad’s acute lack of almost every pancake making utility. I used this playschool recipe as a guide because it was one of the few pancakes I could find that didn’t require baking powder.
It’s become apparent to me that living in a house with no female influence to speak of has its downsides (apart from the obvious). With a drinking glass as my measuring cup and guess work as my scales, I was pretty confident that nothing could go wrong. Overall, though, I’m pretty pleased with myself; I think I should have put more milk in, and if our bananas were ripe I might have considered incorporating them somewhere. Also, I read somewhere that you can put melted butter in the mix, which I’ll try to remember to do next time. These ones weren’t too bad, though.
Conveniently, we had some ice cream in the freezer, which is always a bonus; before the ice cream, I had a couple’ with lemon juice and sugar as well, which results in winning eats :D.
This whole idea I’ve had of trying to learn to cook some stuff seems to be going reasonably well. Suffice to say, my quest to make this house more pancake friendly starts now. Also, for anyone moderately interested in cooking, I’ve found 101 cookbooks to be a pretty good place to get a few ideas for your next meal. It’s sort of a half blog half recipe site. I’ve pretty much discovered that I’m not much into following recipes exactly, but they’re always a good foundation to build on.
That’s all for now, stop reading.
No, seriously, stop it.
